Ceramic veneers can be used to restore teeth with defects such as cracking, misalignment and deep stains. They are particularly useful for more serious defects which cannot be addressed with composite bonding and/or tooth whitening.
A veneer is very thin layer of very strong porcelain (ceramic) material fitted over the front and edge of the tooth to restore its shape, colour and position. Each one is individually prepared by a dental technician on the instructions of your dentist. They are attached to the tooth with a special adhesive following minimal tooth preparation.
While in some cases an individual veneer is used, often several veneers are fitted together as part of a smile makeover, sometimes in combination with other restorative treatments (such as crowns or implants). This ensures a perfect colour match and can give you a whole new smile!
